CURABLE DISEASES ARE KILLING CHILDREN AND THE ELDERY AT AN ALARMING RATE

MCSI’s vision is to create a health care center in Agwata that will facilitate all medical treks. We identified that there was a need for a health center and aspire to see that vision become a reality. MCSI and our sponsors are creating a place where treatable diseases such as Malaria, STDs, common colds, and skin infections can be cured.

With your support, we can roof the clinic, complete the construction, and get the essential tools needed to administer patients. Help make this vision a reality because a life depends on it!

This clinic is an essential component for the community of Agwata, Northern Uganda. There has not been an effective health center in this community since the Ugandan civil war, which was ravaged by rebel activities, leaving communities disabled since 1971 under the previous president Idi Amin’s regime. The regime targeted northern Ugandans (lwo community) with high mortality rates, a rise in orphaned children, widows, and disabled communities. As a result of the displacement and community confinement camps, a big majority do not have the resources to treat themselves.

After seeing my hometown locked up in security camps due to prolonged rebel activities for about 20 years, I saw children roaming aimlessly without education, malnourished, and dying of diseases in these camps. God put a burden in my heart to share with people the adversities my community has and is still facing. Since 2014, after a series of medical treks with partners such as Compassion Corps, the majority of those people who did not have the opportunity to get free treatment died, while those who were treated died as well due to no opportunities for follow up treatments. It saddens my heart, to see my people dying, to see the circumstances people in Agwata are living in knowing I can do more to help. This health center will be very important to serve this community that has no access to health care. This will also be the first opportunity for the community to have proper healthcare service. Children, mothers, and the elderly suffer from malaria and other curable diseases such as measles, smallpox, scabies, bilharzia, STDs, and dysentery. The ultimate goal for this clinic is to have accessible health care in case of any emergency.
